How to Get the Right Fit on Your Gown

How to Get the Right Fit on Your Gown

Your graduation photos will be treasured for years, displayed on walls and mantles. To make sure you look and feel your best in every snapshot, you'll need a great fitting gown.

Here's how to make sure your gown fits great on the big day.

The 411 on gown sizing

Graduation gowns should fall 8-10 inches above the floor, meaning that your ankles and shoes are visible below the gown.

Regular size gowns are normally cut with an amount of extra fabric to make them look good on students with slender to moderately heavy builds.

However, for those who would feel more comfortable with extra room in their gown, a Full Fit gown might be the best option.

How to find the right size gown

To make things nice and easy, we size our gowns by height. For example, if you are 5-foot-5 you should choose the gown designated for the height range 5'3-5'5.

If you'd like a little extra fabric on the gown, you can choose a wider gown, which we refer to as FF or XL. Our FF or XL sizes are not longer, only wider.

If you wear a T-shirt size starting at XXL or larger, our FF or XL sizes will most likely not fit. If you need an XXL or larger please send us an email and we'll be happy to help!
